Perugia - our last part of the Group Tour

The group tour itinerary was Perugia ( described as the jewel of Umbriga) and then Rome.  However, we opted out of the Rome itinerary as we had been to the set sights before and we had our own list of things that we wanted to see.

My summary for Perugia is:
- up high - so lots of walking on cobbled streets and steps;
- very old buildings including church / Cathedral ("Amazing", I hear every one exclaim);
- a fortress that is very, very impressive;
- the main street was taken over by the European chocolate festival during our visit  - not a big deal really to us,  and
- we found another fantastic place to eat a fantastic meal / lunch but we had to hurry to join up with the tour group all too soon.

Not sure if this white vehicle would be regarded as a large / double bike or a tiny car

This was a Post Office vehicle- car/ bike

Inside the fortress

Outside the Cathedral. Perhaps it was to do with the chocolate festival?

The fountain that is regarded as very special to Perugia.

 A quiet area we found behind the Cathedral

 Just a little something we spied on a wall in an alleyway.

 This is what you walk through when you wander off the Main Street.

Then you turn a corner and you find a public water tap.....so beautiful.  You just want to keep on wandering and discovering.......

Then we turned another corner and chanced upon our lovely restaurant of the day.  This was the "ceiling" of the restaurant because it so happened it was part of a wing of the Cathedral.
And guess what?  This is the only, only part of the Cathedral/ church that we stepped into in Perugia!!

The restaurant was so wonderful.   I had pasta with black truffle - I could have paid about double the price to have white truffle but just having truffle was decadent enough for me ! It was s-o delicious.....
Jonathan had spelt gnocchi with wild boar ragu.  Of course, we had to have another jug of house red - just a little jug this time and lots of water. The staff were lovely - and another place with loads of Trip Advisor awards.

Here's to J and J!
