Archipelago tour the highlight

Stockholm general

Somehow I managed to organise the visit to Stockholm so that we were there for the last day of the season for the cruises of the Archipelago. (At season end the boats have to be dry docked as the shallow water freezes so quickly and the ice would crack the boats if they remained were they were).

The cruise started late in the morning  and when it ended a couple of hours later, it was already getting dark and visibility from the boat to the shore would have been extremely limited.
It was a delightful way to see the surrounds of Stockholm, the different types of architecture and the various setup of the village community of each island or inlet. I doubt anyone would complain about the noise of their neighbour as most houses seemed far away from others.

After our cruise, we spent the day walking and shopping (of course).

Fortunately, Stockholm is fairly flat so my knees held up fairly well.

We liked the various parks and the area round the Palace and the Old Town.

While there was a little rain about, it was only light and it didn't really impact us in anyway.

We were very impressed with the Viking Museum and how it was set out.  Such an interesting way to display/ entice people to discover more about times long ago.

I think I speak Swedish and Danish very well.  That is, I can easily say a string of unintelligible words that seems to be like the strange utterings that anyone speaking either of these languages.  (I have absolutely no way of understanding a single word that is uttered!)
Most people do speak English and shopping can be done in any language - much to Jonathan's amazement!
