Sony Centre and film museum Berlin

I had on my list a visit to the Sony Centre and knew that the Film Museum nearby would have Jonathan and Emma's interest.

Initially I was a bit disappointed with the Sony Centre (which is an open air plaza covered with a see through roof on which different coloured lights are shone). As daylight faded, I became enthralled with the magic of colour, light and shadows - any photograper's dream.

Film Museum
This was another "Wow, I am fantasic" moment.  I didn't quite get J&E cheering me but they did agree that I was a super duper fantastic organiserfor putting this on our list of "to see things" Unfortunately, no photos were allowed but even for me, within 2 seconds of entering, I thought "Wow, this is incredible".
Why?
All to do with light, sound and mirrors.  We entered a room and we immediately thought we were on a pathway up high above everything else.  The mirrors around us, at different angles, showed each of us endlessly no matter which way we looked - increasing the illusion that we were suspended in space.  Huge plasma screens at odd angles, played old movies and as you walked along the path (a bit like the yellow brick road only it was all silver) you felt as though you were going into an unbelievable world - which we were! The land of film.  As Emma said, when some other people entered (on the path) it felt as though they had intruded on our magical moment and somehow the initial spell had been broken.

The Film Museum itself was very good but for me that initial entrance was the highlight.

Onto the streets
After this, we went onto the streets and the symbolic replication of where the "wall" had been before it came down 25 years ago.  Over the days of our Berlin visit, we had seen the "lights" being set up/ erected  and in place during the day but we wanted to have the same feeling of being there at night.

Even though it was the night before the anniversary, the place was still abuzz.

We had a lovely day (and night ) celebrating the joy of sound, movement, light and life in wonderful Berlin.
